Our Betting Slips

This is your chance to profit off of our picks.

We have done the research to come up with our analysis and picks horse by horse including favorites and longshots for the Belmont Stakes in New York. Animal Kingdom and Shackleford will be trying to follow up their wins at The Kentucky Derby and The Preakness Stakes by claiming 2 of 3 Triple Crown races. However, there is another horse who will challenge them - Nehro, who came out as the early favorite at Belmont. It will certainly be interesting. Who will you choose when betting on Belmont this weekend?

Don't forget to do your 2011 Belmont Stakes betting early to avoid getting shut out. Post time is at 6:35pm EST on June 11, 2011. This should be a tough race to call, but there are a few horses that should definitely finish in the top 3, so exotic wagering should be prodfitable for this race.

2011 Belmont Stakes - Picks, Predictions, Analysis, Betting Odds

The final field and post positions for the 2011 Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park in New York is now set.

We have analyzed the data and have come up with our picks and predictions for The Belmont Stakes. Listed below are some favorites and longshots we are betting on to finish in the winners circle.

Our picks and predictions for the 2011 Belmont Stakes are based on extensive research including past performances, current racing form, likely track conditions and other important factors that will determine the likely winner at Belmont Park in the final leg of The Triple Crown of horse racing.

Belmont Longshots

What the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes demonstrated is that a longshot can win a stakes race. Animal Kingdom went off at 20-1 odds at the Derby...but if you bet him days before the race at a racebook, you would have locked him in at 32-1 odds...a huge premium. Although it is nice to look at the favorites, throwing in longshots into your betting slip can pay off nice dividends. Early lines on Shackleford for the Preakness were as high as 14-1.

Here are our longshot picks that can win the 2011 Belmont Stakes at long odds:

Post Position - Brilliant SpeedBrilliant Speed - Brilliant Speed finished 7th at the Kentucky Derby showing some excellent late speed, and still looked like he had more gas in the tank. The Belmont distance shouldn't be a problem but the dirt surface may be... Must overcome the same 6 rivals that beat him in the Derby to win, but we think he might just have the talent and the right jockey to pull it off. We like Brilliant speed as the top longshot bet to win.

Brilliant Speed - Past Performances

Post Position - SantivaSantiva - Santiva looked strong down the stretch at the Kentucky Derby. He looked like he still had some gas left in the tank and his pedigree suggests that he should be able to tackle the Belmont's distance more than most. He still hasn't broken the triple digit Beyer Speed figure, however, which is almost a must for potential Belmont Stakes winners. Could this be the race he does it? Santiva might be worth a small wager if the price is right.

Santiva - Past Performances

Post Position - Stay ThirstyStay Thirsty- Stay Thirsty has the pedigree to run 12 furlongs but hasn't shown any signs yet that he can pull off a major upset win in a stakes race like The Belmont. He only has one top 3 finish in four grade 1 races and a career best Beyer Speed Figure of only 89. However, if your looking for a horse who can make the distance and add major value to your exotic bets with an outside chance to win, he might be the horse for you.

Favorites To Win The 2011 Belmont Stakes

Post Position - Animal KingdomAnimal Kingdom - Animal Kingdom is the obvious favorite for the 2011 Belmont Stakes and for good reason - he won the Kentucky Derby and finished 2nd in the Preakness. The last horse to finish in the top 3 of both triple crown races was Afleet Alex in 2005 going on to win The Belmont Stakes. But, will the short time between races be too much for him to handle? Must include in any exotics. Animal Kingdom is our top pick to win the Belmont.

Animal Kingdom - Past Performances

Post Position - NehroNehro - Nehro is one of the question marks heading into The Belmont Stakes after two strong late push finishes in both the Kentucky Derby and Arkansas Derby. He may have moved too soon in the Kentucky and it begs the question whether, if pushed at the right time, he can keep up with or hold off a late charging Animal Kingdom. The distance might be just too much for him to handle but we expect him to be battling near the front down the stretch.

Nehro - Past Performances

Post Position - Mucho Macho ManMucho Macho Man - Mucho Macho Man is the biggest puzzle in this year's Triple Crown races after placing 3rd place at the Derby and 6th at the Preakness. He did lose a shoe last race which may account for the disappointing finish. The late burst of speed at the Derby shows he might have stamina to make 12 furlongs, but Animal Kingdom easily flew by him in both races. Switching to experienced jockey Ramon Dominguez will help at The Belmont.

Mucho Macho Man - Past Performances

Post Position - ShacklefordShackleford-The 2011 Preakness winner ran a perfect race at Pimlico and was able to hold off the late charging Animal Kingdom. Shackleford will once again be up near the lead when they make the final turn at Belmont, but as the Kentucky Derby showed, he just doesn't have the stamina to hold off the late chargers at a longer distance. The Preakness was set up perfectly for him but we expect he'll falter down the stretch at Belmont Park.

Shackleford - Past Performances

Post Position - Master Of HoundsMaster Of Hounds - Master Of Hounds had a strong finish at the Derby coming way back from 15th to finish 5th - so the extra distance might actually help him here. He was fading a bit near the end of that race, which is a concern, but he skipped the Preakness so should be well rested. He might be a sleeper pick for some exotic bets but we don't think he's quite good enough to pull of a major upset victory vs. this level of competition.
